When I finish editing a sequence in Premiere, I want to export to Media Encoder so I can keep working in Premiere while ME is busy exporting in the background. But I get the following error message:
"Adobe Media Encoder is not installed. Please download and install it to use this feature."
But Media encoder is definitely installed. And both Pr and Ae are up to date and the same versions (v24.5)

Try to manually launch Media Encoder while holding down the Shift-key at the same time. This will reset ME´s preferences.

Hmm...
If you launch Me and Pr, can you drag a timeline from the Project panel in Premiere Pro over to the Queue panel in Me without any error? Or in Me, go to File > Add Premiere Pro Sequence?
None of this solves the error, but it is interesting to see if Me throws an error at everything or not. And, if you are in a time crunch you will be able to export media while being able to keep working in Pr.
This issue has happened to me before and the only way to solve it was to uninstall Pr+Me and then manually delete all traces of them in the Documents folder. On Windows, delete the folders and it´s content named Adobe Media Encoder and Premiere Pro located in C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Adobe and when done install Pr+Me using the Creative Cloud app. (similar path on Mac)
If you have any custom keyboard shortcuts, be sure to either save the .kys-file located in C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\24.0\Profile-UserName\Win or simply delete all folders but C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\24.0\Profile-UserName\Win.

I was able to get the sequence into the queue on Me, but it turned out tobe a 'false economy', as it were, because the settings were all changed forthe export, and I had to re-do them for each export again anyway. And asthey weren't big files (just 90s reels for social media) and there was alot of them, it didn't really save any time vs exporting directly from Pr.This must be a bug, how do I report it?
By @Karl Photographer
A sequence has no export setting attached to them, so when you drag them to Me a default export setting are applyed. If you have 20 sequences in the queue it is possible to change the export settings for all 20 sequences in one go. This is possible for the output destination as well. It´s even possible to set a custom output path that all exports use in Me.
So it´s not a bug.

All these instructions are for Windows. How do I do I clean uninstall/reinstall in Mac?

/Users/UserName/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/24.0
/Users/UserName/Documents/Adobe/Adobe Media Encoder/24.0
Or use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool (Instructions for Mac almost at the bottom of the page)

Did you ever get an answer or solution? I updated Media Encoder to 2025 version, and now Premiere Pro isn't talking to it. I can still use Pp's "Export" and "Encode" function, but not through Media Encoder.

Did you upgrade Premiere Pro as well?
For example, if you have Pr 24 and AME 25 there will be issues like yours. They need to be the same version, such as Pr 25 and AME 25, or Pr 25.1 and AME 25.1.

Ha! I just figured that out a little while ago. Once I updated Pp to 25 it exported to Me 25 with no problem. A simple but correct solution, one that makes me feel like the Scarecrow, "If I only had a brain!" Thanks for the advice, though. Sometimes it just takes a different set of eyes on a problem to see the solution. 😉
