Canon C300 and 60i

I made the mistake of thinking that 1920x1080 60i on the Canon C300 meant 60 frames interlaced instead of 30 frames interlaced. Now, as I am using Premiere, I have footage that is showing signs of moraying (sp?) along edges and generally looking not as crisp as if I were shooting in traditional 1920x1080 29.97 progressive.

I have tried a multitude of different ways to make the video look crisp again. Just taking a wild chance that someone has had similar problems with the C300 and that 60i setting and might have figured out the magic formula to make things happy again AND would be willing to share their idea here.

Thank you.

Correct answer Ann Bens

juanmario,

if you were to edit footage that is 60i or 30i, what sequence setting would you use?

-Matt K

Just drop everything in a 60i sequence and edit away.

Set display to upper field and the interlace artifacts (not moire) will go away.

Use the new item icon or drag a clip into an empty sequence.

29.97 progressive actually isn't "traditional" at all.  It's a non-standard format not included in the broadcast, DVD or Blu-ray spec.

The traditional norms are 30i, 60p and 24p.

I recommend the last for pretty much everything.

That is if you live in the USA.

Yeah Ann. 60p for me from now on. Edit down to 24p. Won't make that mistake again. Any advice on how to make the 30i or 60i look the best it can? I'm having moraying issues along with some artifacting.

Thanks for any advice you provide.

Why not change the configuration of the sequence to the correct parameters?

Are you able (and willing) to help me find the best sequence setting for 30i or 60i? What do you use?

Thank you juanmario.

What is the final destination of the edition?

How did you configure the sequence?
