Canon Log footage slowing down premiere pro/100% CPU usage

I am having a problem with adobe premiere spiking my CPU usage to 100% when I am trying to edit my canon C.LOG3 footage. I have shot with canon's LOGs many times before, and I have never had a problem.

GPU stays between 10-15%, RAM stays between 50-60%, but the CPU spikes to 100% and only plays 1 frame every couple seconds.

Everything is updated... Drivers, Premiere, Windows...

CPU is an Intel Core i9-7920X CPU

The turbo boost is on, I've cleared my video cache, the cache is on a separate drive, all the accelerations are on... I highly doubt it's a hardware issue, because as I mentioned, I have had no problem editing Canon's LOG footage in the past. I used to exclusively shoot in LOG until this year, so it seems like there might have been an update that messed something up.

Is this just another one of those "Adobe messed something up in an update with no fix," or is there an actual solution for this? Thanks!

The problem is the long-GOP nature of that H.264 media. Do you have an Intel CPU with QuickSync? If so, make sure hardware decoding is selected for H.264 in the Preferences.

If you don't, then ... yea, H 264 can be a right pain to edit with.

Everyone's mileage always varies ...

Do you know the solution? I have canon r8 and my laptop have huge troubles with playbacking log H.265 footage?

VLC and Premiere Pro use 100% of my CPU.
