Canon Long Gop not playing back in version 24.5

Hey! I recently updated to the latest version of Premiere Pro (24.5) and opened a project I have been working on.

The project is filled with AVC Long GOP High 4:2:2 Profile 10-bit footage out of a Canon Cinema Line camera.

Since I've updated the timeline would not playback under any circumstances. It wasn't a problem in 24.3, it played back in real time and buttery smooth. Now it even takes 10+ seconds if I use "Match Frame" to open the frame in the source monitor.

I am on the latest Nvidia Studio Driver. I use an Intel 12900K, 128GB RAM and a Nvidia 4090.

When I downgrade to 24.3 everything is working flawlessly again.

The workaround are proxies but I am still wondering what is happening right now. I thought the update would bring performance gains with that codec.

Thanks for the help

Kevin

First thing I would try is to delete the cache, (hold down shift as you start PP). I do this every upgrade.

Then I would try a new project. Add some of the clips and drop them into the timeline to see if it happens with that.

Let us know.

Hi MyerPj,

since I am an experienced Premiere Pro user I am ashamed I haven't done or thought about this this time... It works flawlessly again. I just tested it. Thank you for your help!

BTW: In the 24.5 update (yesterday) they mention Canon footage. It might not be what you are using, but do have a look:
