I wanted to share an issue I've been experiencing while using the Text panel to edit captions in Premiere. I've noticed that there's a significant lag between clicks on the screen, lasting about 30 seconds each, with the MacOS spinning rainbow icon popping up.
After a bit of troubleshooting, I found that this lag only occurs after I update the default transition duration in my Premiere Preferences (Settings) > Timeline. However, when I reset the preferences by opening Premiere with the Option key held down, this bug disappears.
I'd really love to be able to do both things - set the default transition duration for both video and audio transitions to the duration I want, without it interfering with my workflow when editing captions in the Text panel.
I'm hoping you could assist me in finding a solution or offering any tips to resolve this. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Good, detailed report. I hope they can replicate.
I recommend opening PR before you open a project - some user report caption lag if they open PR by opening a project file.
I think you are from your description, but just in case...
I have been unable to replicate many of the delay/slow performance issues, but some appeared Mac related and I am on Windows. I'll try to give this one a go.
