Captions SRT Export includes HTML code

I created some captions today for a short video.  After generating the captions, I made some stylistic changes to them.  When I exported them to SRT, they included HTML code.  Made the export file useless.  Example below:

1
00:00:00,240 --> 00:00:01,360
<font color=#FFEA04FF>A quick LinkedIn tip</font>

2
00:00:01,360 --> 00:00:02,600
<font color=#FFEA04FF>that I've just learned about!</font>

3
00:00:02,600 --> 00:00:03,360
<font color=#FFEA04FF>LinkedIn allows</font>

4
00:00:03,360 --> 00:00:03,960
<font color=#FFEA04FF>you to register</font>

5
00:00:03,960 --> 00:00:04,520
<font color=#FFEA04FF>your interest</font>

6
00:00:04,520 --> 00:00:05,240
<font color=#FFEA04FF>for future roles</font>

7
00:00:05,240 --> 00:00:06,240
<font color=#FFEA04FF>with a company.</font>

Guessing this is unintentional.

Hi! I have the same issue but only from this week, I never had this problem before and I always applied styling to my captions!

The other method (via file --> export) is not working for me as 'Captions' option is greyed out... Not sure what to do.

Ah, looks like I had to select all the captions for the 'captions' under Export to be available. So that problem's sorted!

Stuart,

This is as expected. You set a font color other than default, and then exported srt "with styling." If you set faux italics and some others, you'll also see this code.

To avoid this, just export without styling. You cannot do this from the Text Panel (styling on export is always on).

Select the timeline and then File -> Export -> Captions or export sidecar from Media export.
