Captions Using British £ Instead of "Pound"

Hello. I've updated my PP to Version 23.3.0 and my captions are using the £ symbol instead of the word "pound" when it's spoken in terms of weight. This is a problem since in my videos, I use the word "pound" meaning weight quite a bit, so I end up doing a lot more editing than I should have to.

I didn't see a Preference to change and my Creative Cloud account is set to English (North America) as the default language. Is there a setting somewhere I can change?

Thanks!

Thanks for doing that test. I see the problem.

And the workaround is tricky: you can't just do a search and replace for the pound symbol. I guess I'd do a search for the pound symbol and type in "pounds." And rather than another search for the pound symbol and replace with nothing, I'd just delete during the original search.

I was about to make a post but found yours first. I am dealing with the same issue that it is default to british sterling amounts instead of weights when saying "5 pounds"

I am captioning a tv show it weights are being mentioned repeatedly and they all come up in british currency.

I think Adobe should change this default to the english weight words as spoken instead.

Or a more advanced concept would be to check the computer time zone during transcription, if it's in Britain then british currency, and if it's in united states EST-PST range then use weights.

Sorry it's happening to you, but also glad it's not just me!

In addition to the spell checker setting Ann mentions, be sure that your "transcription language" is set to "English (UK)" rather than "English."

Thanks, Stan. I grabbed a different project I hadn't transcribed and looked at the transcription language, but it is also set to plain English, as it should be. I'll attach a screenshot. I re-ran the transcription in English (UK) to see if that made a difference and it didn't.

Not sure if this is going to work but check out the spell checker. Can be set to different English and has the ability to learn words.

Thank you—I just checked and it's set to plain English. The UK version was underneath and not selected.
