Question

Capturing HDV

Hi All.
I am trying to capture some HDV tapes into premier 2021 with a Sony deck. I can capture DV fine. It will down convert my HDV tapes to DV fine. When I force the deck to only output HDV (no down convert) I get a sign saying "no source connected". Anyone else had this issue? I've tried everything I can think of.

thanks!

Do you have to use Premiere Pro? It seems as though the M1 chip and the latet version of OS X can support firewire devices. That being said will FCPX and iMoive support the HDV? You can try it. Having said that I don't like the fact that Adobe is getting rid of features that some people still use in 2021.

If it's a premier issue, I guess not. I can't install iMovie or FCP as it required updating my OS. I may have to use another computer to do this in the end. Thanks!

You could get a cheap PC and stick in a firewire card.

which OS are you using?

Certain mac OS does not have HDV option anymore?

If you are on windows:  HDVSplit

Hi there. Thank you for the reply. I'm on Mojave right now. It's capturing DV okay. Would it be the case that if it didn't capture HDV anymore it would also be the case with DV?

thanks.
