Capturing With Canopus ADVC-55?

Hi everybody,

Does anybody know anything about capturing through the analogue-digital converter, Canopus ADVC-55, in Premiere Pro CC? I’ve had a go but with no success. I've selected ADVC-100, (and tried the other two options for the brand) in the capture device settings, but no joy. Premiere is reading the device to some extent because when it's plugged in (Firewire via Thunderbolt) it says “online” in Check Status in the DV/HDV Device Control Settings, if I unplug it it says “offline” but nothing happens in the monitor and you can't capture/record anything. 😞

Thanks for any advice.

Yes and No! The footage I wanted to capture was on a DVDR, so I just had to import the .VOD files into premiere in the end. This was pretty simple, but I didn't get the Canopus working in Pro CC. Maybe it's too old, I bought in 2006! I got help on the Creative Cow forum in the end. The thread is here … CreativeCOW

    Hi Gareth_Williams,

Sounds like you got done what you wanted to, albeit painfully. Regarding the Canopus, all gear eventually becomes obsolete, unfortunately. Sorry.
