Change audio to mono in sequence settings?

Contributor ,

I'm stitching together a bunch of Zoom presentations, and they're all recorded at 25 FPS, with 32KHz mono audio.

When I drag the first video to the timeline, it automatically creates the Sequence of course.  I right-click on the Sequence and select "Sequence Settings," and I can see that it has automatically set it to 25 FPS, and 32KHz sample-rate for the audio.  But it leaves the Channel Format set to Stereo and the Number of Channels set to 2.  Both of them are greyed-out so I can't change them.

Why?  How do I get it to let me change the audio settings on this sequence?

Set up the sequence manually instead of dragging a clip into an empty timeline.

File > New > Sequence > Settings/Tracks.

Redoing the work is always an option but is there an actual answer to this question? How do you make it so the option to change from stereo to mono isn't greyed out? Or is this just another feature of Premiere that doesn't work correctly?

You modify the clip in the project window not in the timeline.

So that's a no, it's still broken.

I second, not a solution. We need the internet to do less gaslighting.

What gaslighting? She just gave a short answer.

First comment I would make is that Premiere normally sets the sequence to whatever I use as the first clip. Including matching the audio tracks. So if I create a sequence with a stereo clip, I get a stereo on the audio. If mono, a mono track.

And if dual mono, a paired audio track.

If Premiere is not doing that yes, that would be an issue. But to check, it would be useful to have a screengrab dragged/dropped onto the text reply area.

That would show the Sequence panel, including all the controls on the left side. Among them are the icons for telling where each audio track is mono, or stereo, or 5.1 or adaptive audio.

It sounds to me like the big question is simply: can you change a sequence's audio mix from stereo to mono after it's been created? The assumption is you can't since the option is grayed out in the sequence settings panel.
