Change mutliple video clips position

I am using the newest version of premier pro and trying to edit videos, however, I am not sure how to move video clips at once. I can do a single video, but when I selected multiple ones, nothing showed up on the effect controls panel.

Can anyone give me an idea or I have to do it one by one?

I think I'm trying to do the same thing (select several clips & re-position them all, e.g. vertically up the frame by 50 pts) and I think Ali Jaber (Apr 4, 2025, below) has it.

Select the clips, go to Properties panel, shift the specific attribute required for all of the clips at once.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the same query. I edit videos for a podcast and after doing "Scene Edit Detection" I have to individually move the positions of each scene left or right in order to centre the people in shot. Its usually consistent and I just have to type the same values into "Position" on the "Effect Control" panel for each scene. It is quite time consuming doing it this way, though, so I was wondering if there's a way to select all of the scenes for the relevant individual and move them all to the same position? Apologies if I'm just not understanding. I'm fairly new to editing.

Very late on this, but if you haven't learned yet, yes there is a way to do this. Go to your Effects Control Panel - Click where it says "Motion", Copy and Paste it onto your next clip and there you go. Hope this helps.

Hi @Nishimura34436310p5a1,

I think I know what you want to do, perhaps you want to select multiple clips in the Program Monitor, right? Sorry, that's not available in Premiere Pro. You might want to check out After Effects for a more familiar workflow with motion graphics and video graphics. Do you have a subscription to it? If so, check it out.

Thanks.

Sorry, but that's a cop-out. We're not talking about some edge-case scenario that doesn't occur often enough to warrant the engineering resources. We're talking about fundamental tenets of UI/UX where multiple objects (with identical parameters for goodness sake) can be selected, and editing the parameter values of one object applies those same values to the other selected objects. For a 'professional' piece of software to not support such basic functionality is absurd.

This isn't complicated at all.

You can do that in the timeline  ...

@R Neil Haugen

You cannot have multiple clips selected and show up in the Effects Control Panel. It is one at a time.

Not exactly sure what you mean by move (many scenarios here)

You can lasso the clips in the timeline and move then left, right, up or down on the tracks.

As for position in the frame: Do one clip (adjust position or whatever)

Right-click on the word Motion and hit Copy.

Now go to the timeline, select all clips, right click and hit Paste attributes.

Right ... I'm used to applying presets, and yea, you can apply a preset with settings to mutliple clips. But not change multiples on the timeline.

Shoulda remembered that, as I've been after folks about that for years.

If you want to apply an effect to multiple clips on a sequence, select them, then go to the Effects panel and drag/drop it onto the timeline. Then you should be able to modify the settings in the ECP.

You should be able to say size multiple clips by selecting them, then going to the ECP and twirling down the controls for size, positioning, and rotation.
