Question

Cineform support on native Apple Silicon Premiere Pro

Hi,

I just tried to import some CineForm footage into Premiere and found out its not supported on the native Apple Silicon verison of Premiere Pro.

I know it should work via Rosetta emulation with the Intel version of Premiere, but this is I hope a temporary work-around as it somewhat negates the M1 performance benefit.

Is there a plan to support CineForm in the native Apple Silicon verison of Premiere? The entire CineForm library is open source on GitHub, so it shouldn't be impossible 😉

Thanks

Russell

You'd want to reqeuest this here:  Premiere Pro: Hot (11841 ideas) – Adobe video & audio apps (uservoice.com)

Is there any reason don't want to use ProRes?  It reads and writes much. much faster on the M1 than on Intel.

Hi Warren, thanks for the link, I’ll add it to the feature requests.

I do use ProRes a lot and it's definitely super performant. There are, however, some scenarios where CineForm’s open source nature makes it better for complex workflows across/involving other systems/platforms.
