Question

Clips randomly disappearing from timeline

I have a 30 minute timeline with 1000s of clips (20% HD, 75% 4k and about 5% 8k). It's graded and almost complete. As usual, after alterations I saved and rendered. Then I found some clips of video and some of audio just disappeared from the timeline. I repaired them and rendered, which was fine.

I carried on editing but found that lots of clips are now not playing at all. The preview is there but the clip plays nothing (there's also a gap in the green line). If I dbl click on the clip I see it is there in the bin and can play it  from there. This is catastrophic, as the timeline is peppered with holes, even if I repair them how do I know more won't appear?

Mac 10.14.6  running PP 14.3.1.  I'd really appreciate an expert view, many thanks. Paul

Render the sequence again and the green line gaps should fill in with new green lines.

If that doesn't work, then delete all render files from the sequence and re-render.

Thanks Jeff.  I had tried rendering again - but no joy. After yet another restart (I had done several) it has seemed OK. The only change I made was that, previous to the issue I'd followed online advice to relocate the Scratch disk to the SSD on the Mac and purge the cache to make it faster - it didn't and it co-incided with this issue. So I relocated it back on the remote drive.

But when you say 'delete all render files from the sequence and re-render.' - how do you do that? It would be really handy to know, many thanks. Paul
