Color correction 4k

Hi,

I have a 1080p sequence in which there is 4k video clips. I use proxies which work fine until I get into the CC part.

When I start color correcting the 4k clips, whether or not proxies are on, it gets very laggy, the only work around I found is to nest the clips, thus becoming 1080p dimension, and thus PP not lagging anymore.

Having nests in the timeline is pretty annoying because it becomes much harder to edit in case I want to cut back again a clip after CC.

My question is : is there a way to color correct 4k clips without lag and without having to nest them ? (apart from buying a new computer of course).

Ahh ... that video card is old enough PrPro can't even use it. The Nvidia cards need to be at least a 700 series to have a recent enough 'architecture' that PrPro supports them. Now, the video card is used primarily for things like ... color. So yes, with that rig, even running Cineform proxies, doing much Lumetri work will bring performance way down.

    Sorry ...

With the Toggle Proxies icon blue, you shouldn't have playback issues with the proxies.

So 3 questions  ... what codec is the preset you used? Cineform  I hope.

Second what is the hardware you're using?

Third, the codec of the media?

    I use CIneform indeed

The Proxy button is enabled, as it can be seen the line over the clp turns red when I start CC. The codec of the original file is h264 - MPEG 4 AVC (says VLC).
I have I7 processor, 12 gb of RAM, Nvidia geforce gt 425m
