Color Grading with Proxies enabled (2017.1)

I have a dilemma. I can't seem to color grade in real time when using proxies. In the past, I could create a proxy for UHD footage and color grade with Lumetri with ease. Now when I go to grade, it acts as if I'm working with the original UHD footage the second I make any adjustments. Even when I have to go back to trimming after a grade, I will hit the "FX" button to disable all effects including Lumetri, and it's slow as hell. I need to disable Lumetri in the effects tab on EACH CLIP in order to edit again. So basically I am unable to work with UHD footage... unless I get picture lock, then export as in a prores 1080, Bring it back in, then cut the clips apart manually, then grade..

Any help would be appreciated.

What are the specs of the proxies?

Do you have the Toggle Proxy icon in your Program Monitor?  Is it blue?

I've used anything from ProRes 422 (proxy) to DNxHR SQ to lower res H.264. I usually transcode to 720x1280 @ 23.976 FPS (progressive scan) for most of my work (I do 1024x540 for a 1.896 ratio for 4k footage). Yes, the toggle proxies is on and blue.

What I mean by referencing  - Say I'm color grading 3840x2160 footage: The computer is making the realtime changes using this full res original media - thus being slow. If I have proxies on, does the computer use (or reference) the proxy as I make my changes, so that it can have a faster "live update" of the grade. Boiled down, what I'm getting at - should grading using proxies be faster?

When I am working with Lumetri with the proxy enabled, I am still seeing the low res proxy as I grade. However, it's acting as if I don't have proxies enabled at all - just as slow as if I am grading the full res original media.

I am getting the same behavior using new sequences. This has actually been an ongoing problem for me with all projects since I got CC2017 a very long time ago. I've had sequence settings all over the board. Most of them are pretty straight forward, but here is the usual settings I use:

Looking back through the thread, I don't see the specs other than it's an iMac. What are your hardware specs?
