Colour issues when exporting prores raw

New Here ,
Apr 18, 2023 Apr 18, 2023

Hi all,

I have just starting working with Prores raw and am finding that when it comes to exporting out my colour adjustments the exported files are very different.

This is current workflow:

- I convert my colourspace to S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log3. I like the flat/grey colourspace and am only really fine tuning from this starting point.

I initially exported to H.264 as I usually do but the colours were very off. Too much contrast chiefly.

I did a bit of research and read that I should be exporting prores raw as a quicktime with the codec 422 or 422 HQ and in the Rec 2100 PQ colour space. Is this correct?

I have processed out a few tests but the colours are still off.

I have attached screengrabs of the results. The first image is the H.264 and the second is the QT.

These have not been denoised yet.

I am working off a calibrated Eizo screen.

Am I missing an important part of the workflow when working with raw?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Yours,

Bryony

Having the same issue, did you manage to resolve it? (unintended pun)

You want to end up with the flat log look? That's a technique for encoding data from wider dynamic ranges to card. Expected to be reversed or "normalized" back to linear space for use.

So ... you want to keep it looking log?
