When I try to combine two projects into one timeline, I open a new project, drag and drop the projects I want into the new project having selected "Import Entire Project" and "Create Folder for imported items" and the project appears. But when I drag it to the timeline it shows all the clips in a line in the timeline without any of the edits. What am I missing?
Make duplicates of your sequences.
In the second sequence, select all and Copy then go to the end of the first sequence and paste.

What are you dragging to the timeline? Typically you might open a Sequence from the imported project, that would be where the edits are. See if you can find a sequence and double-click to load it.

How do I open a sequence from the imported project? Where do I find a sequence?

What is the name of your sequence? In the Project Panel, type it in the search box. To make this easier, be sure your have your sequence named the way you want in the original project.
Double-click the sequence to open it in the timeline.
Is your goal to have project 1 sequence followed by project 2 sequence on one timeline? Or to edit them together?

I don't know the name of my sequence. I don't even know what a sequence is.

Just type in the word sequence in the search field in the project panel and all your sequences will be found. Double click on any of them to open them. This is an easy way to find all your sequences in a project without knowing their names. A sequence is also known as a timeline. That´s where you put all your clips.

OK I've managed to create 2 timelines each of which contains 1 project fully edited, which I can find by Window> Timelines and clicking on either of them, but how do I combine them into 1 timeline?

BTW: Now you know you can have multiple / many sequences in your project. So, you have the option of having created that second sequence you made (to combine with the 1st) into the same project. So, you would have had both sequences in the one project and could then combine them to export as one. Just a thought. 🙂
