Consolidate or Decompose and Copy without Transcoding?

Is there a way in Premiere to consolidate a sequence that copies the original footage (NOT transcoding!) by creating new clips with handles instead of copying the entire source file?

I have a 3 minute sequence in a project of over 300 gigs and the copied sequence will only get winnowed down to 110 gigs. I don't want to transcode. I just want to copy the sequence portions of the source footage with handles.

Can this be done in Premiere?

There is now a way to do this in Premiere Pro with PlumePack !

PlumePack is a PPro plugin which can trim you files losslessly without re-encoding ! It removes the unused frame of your timeline and you can keep the same codec and exact same media quality. It's like copying a part of your files, so it is exactly what you are describing here !
