Having spent a lot of time doing this kind of thing, it is full of pitfalls.

Providing the material is not too long, say under 10 minutes, send it to me using Dropbox and I will convert using our in house system.

    Hi GuyUK,

I am currently trying to convert a NTSC 1080P master file to PAL 1080P. I get the same jittery effects that the OP was mentioning when he converted. I used PP for my conversion. Do you have any suggestions?

    Best regards,

PPro is well-known for being the most format-agnostic editing platform there is.

Simply set up a 25p timeline, throw the 29,97 footage on it and render it out.

    Hope this helps.

Please let us know how/where the 25p footage will be used. Do you need to deliver to a broadcaster? Put on DVD? Website? Really makes a difference in what we might recommend, so please share what info you can about intended workflow - there is no "one size fits all" answer.

    Thanks

This is for Broadcast - I know that simple transcode settings as suggested in the replies above are too jittery, especially during camera pans and fast action.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated- thanks

    Hi,

Have you tried to simply export your 30p sequence or video to a 25p video in PPRO ?

You can export directly from your project window without creating a sequence. You can also open Adobe Media Encoder ( AME ) and drag and drop the file, change settings and render.

Can you give it a try and let us know?

I have yet to find an affordable software method to standards convert. In the past I have used a post house with a hardware Snell Alchemist, this was good but expensive, I have since bought a BMD Teranex, not as good but gets the job done if you work to its limitations. If you would like to Dropbox a short clip I would be happy to convert it and let you see the quality.

Thanks Richard - I forgot to mention that this is 4K material... does your system support that? thanks Alex

    Hi Alex,

I'm not sure to understand your question about my system...You talk about my solution ?

If yes, It makes no difference.

You can make your sequence in 25p and insert your 30p ( 29,976 I presume ?) and make your editing.

Or simply make your sequence 30p, make your editing and in the export settings, just choose 25p.

As simple as that. Let us know.
