Hi Everyone,

I've got a ton of old home movies converted to avi clips that premiere pro cc 2018 can't read after I've imported them. How do I covert them to a format that will allow me to use premiere to work with them?

thanx much,

Mike

thank you for the response John T Smith. I'm using a PC and just upgraded to 2018 Premiere version and when I import these clips into the work space i get no video just a green screen in whatever screen i drag it to.

That is not the "tree" view from mediainfo, which may provide more information.

The "IsTruncated" being "Yes" is not common, and may indicate that a copy or transfer was incomplete. I saw one post that claimed it did not indicate a problem, but the mediainfo forum response was that it assesses the information correctly and may indicate a problem.

Do all of your files have the "IsTruncated" = yes?

On the other hand, a green screen has often been a codec or video card issue.

    Read if Windows...

AVI is a wrapper, what is inside YOUR wrapper - Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?

Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... A screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing - For Windows Internet Explorer press the PRINT SCREEN button on your keyboard, and then do CTRL-V to paste the screen print from the clipboard into a forum message

    - when you analyze your file in MediaInfo and post a screen shot in the forum, do so in TREE view

If you are on windows Premiere still reads/edits old fashioned DV-avi's.

If you are on Mac you need to convert first. Handbrake would be a good option.
