Corrupted UI elements in Premiere Pro 24

This started happening this week and was definitely not happening 7 days ago.

OS: Windows 10 Pro (10.0.19045 Build 19045)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-core processor, 3800 MHz

32 GB of motherboard RAM

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super (Driver version 546.17)

On startup, Premiere renders this strange large grey rectangle at the top left of my desktop that can't be interacted with but covers large parts of my desktop nevertheless. When I mouse over it the cursor turns into a resize cursor but clicking and dragging does nothing. The rectangle's interactive area is far larger than what is rendered it makes large parts of the UI underneath it unclickable, including parts of Premiere's visible UI. The window shows corrupted artifacts when I resize it. Text inputs render in the wrong place, often far above and to the left of where they should be, and they don't accept any keyboard input. This is severely impacting the usability of this product and I have two days to decide if I want to keep paying for it or get dinged for another 12 months that I don't even know I can use. I've attempted to restart the computer, reset all preferences and ran a quick virus scan just in case, and nothing fixes this. Nothing in the Windows Application log shows any error from my video driver.

I don't think there are any other reports of this behavior.

What is your full Windows build number? I am at 19045.3693, which occurred Nov 14.

Single monitor setup?

Was this working previously? It looks like you have this installed on the D drive? Is that your system drive?

according to the Windows Update App:

Feature update to Windows 10, version 22H2

happened on 18 November, 2022

The Settings Control Panel tells me my OS Build is 19045.3693

Windows Version string "10.0.19045 Build 19045" comes from the System Information Control Panel.

Regedit tells me the value of \\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\BuildLab is "19041.vb_release.191206-1406"

\\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\BuildLabEx shows "19041.1.amd64fre.vb_release.191206-1406"

I forgot to mention this is a dual monitor setup. D: is not my system drive.

Thanks for the info.

I have not looked at the BuildLab info; I think we are using the same build.

I can't explain the issues, but my understanding is that PR does not like being installed on a non-system drive.

It should not matter, but I would try removing one monitor temporarily. I do not use the second monitor for PR, but I do have a two-monitor setup. And I do not see these problems.

Four days later nothing has improved. Things that did not fix it:
Uninstalling and reinstalling.

Uninstalling and installing an older version.

Unplugging my second monitor.

Adobe Media Encoder does not have these problems, I launch it and it doesn't open a phantom uninteractive window, text inputs work normally. Only Premiere Pro has these problems. I'm at my wit's end and I don't know if I can continue using this software for much longer unless there's some official support ticketing system for this service.media encoder doesn't have these problems.jpgthis is not okay.jpg

To clarify, Premiere Pro is installed on my system drive. My D: drive is where I keep all my documents/media and windows is configured to point to it by default.

A new day of failures, a new list of things I tried that didn't work including suggestions from this thread from 2021: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/user-interface-crazy-can-t-work-on-premiere/...
deleting media cache/deleting media cache files
resetting preferences
resetting the workspace
disabling audio input
Toggling h264 decoding
Resetting all preferences and disabling all 3rd party plugins
Restoring Windows Text Scaling to 100% (from 130%)

Just to better illustrate what I'm seeing I've included a new screenshot of the one of the UI 'dead zones' that shows up whenever I have a project loaded. Resizing panels leaves ghosted trails behind, as applications sometimes do when they lag or simply fail to repaint parts of their UI. This is just one of the symptoms on top of being unable to interact with text fields in the export dialog, new project dialog, etc.

Oh my god, I am getting the exact same problems as of today. Literally exactly the same in every way. Did you ever find a fix?

Hi! I had the same problem. I'm solving it with resetting the workspace. At least some part is starting to work. Most likely, this is a Windows bug, or we just, as always, have unnamed feelings for Adobe.
