Create Proxies for 3840 x 1080 footage

Hi there. I'm trying to seperate my webcam and desktop recording footage. To do this I can record in 3840 x 1080 in obs. Then in Premeire I can crop half the screen (1920 x 1080) of the game the other of my webcam. This method allows me to move or remove my webcam as I edit. The problem I'm having is cropping such large formats and then having two of them slows down scrubbing and playback a lot. I've tried creating proxies but when I use a 1280x720 Ingest the image get's vertically shrunk. I think this is becuase my proxy settings don't scale correctly with 3840x1080. How can I create the correct proxies for editing. Also does cropping making playback slower, is there another option to improve performance?

720p proxies work great with 4K-UHD 3840x2160. If you are cutting the 2160 in half (3840x1080?), then 1280x360. Just make a custom preset using Cineform or ProRes.

none of those ratios worked. It's still coming out vertically squished. We aren't technically filming in 4k, we just have extended our OBS horizontally to capture more space to include our screen output and camera in the same instance. So we have our Game output (1920 X 1080) right next to our Webcam Output (1920 X 1080) which makes a 3840 X 1080 screen resolution. Would it be better to just increase the 1080 to more align with a more standard Aspect Ratio?

well actually no that would help with future footage but as far as this current recording goes, that doesn't help i suppose
