Crop entire sequence?

Hi,

I need to crop an entire sequence not just specific clips. I need to scale clips larger but have them keep the same aspect ratio of the entire sequence.

I shot in 2.40:1 but need to zoom in on some of the clips but when I do this it changes the aspect ratio of the clip. Is there a way to put a 2.40 Matte or something over the entire sequence so that I can zoom and crop my clips accordingly?

The only help I've been able to find is by doing effects on each clip. But when i do this and scale up, it once again just changes everything and i lose my aspect ratio.

Thanks!

Create an Adjustment Layer by clicking on the New Item button in the lower right corner of the Project Panel.

Add that Adjustment Layer to a video track above all you other tracks in your timeline, and once placed, add the Crop effect to it and set the crop to the aspect ratio you want. You can then manipulate the clips below the Adjustment Layer and the Adjustment layer will constrain the image to crop you have set.

You'd think resizing a project would be simple, not needing you to use... (checks notes) adjustment layers and effects!?

Hi Tomb,

You can also change frame size for the entire sequence in Sequence Settings. That might be easier.

Thanks,
Kevin

I had the same problem except I needed the cropped videos to fill the original sequence of HD. So add the Adjustment Layer with the crop effect. But after this make sure to check the 'zoom' option in the crop effect to make the cropped videos fill the original sequence settings.

The otherway was to resize the sequence setting then when exporting choose 'stretch to fill'! ... which was not good
