Crop tool not working with free draw bezier

Hello,

when I use the crop tool and just crop the layer by selecting "crop" in the effects control panel and then drag the edges, it works fine

but when I try using the free draw bezier tool, it does not crop (or mask) anything, it simply draws a useless path.

Shouldn't it just do the same thing as above, removing everything on that layer around the shape?

I tried restarting the computer, but that didn't help.

Dont use the mask tool from the Crop Effect but rather from Opacity.

But my opacity effect doesnt show up on the effects panel...what should i do sir?? thanks a lot
