.cube not reading in premiere pro cc 2020

I've recently acquired some LUTs (.cube) and I have directed them to the proper folder i.e. Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe/Common/LUTs/Technical. They show up fine in the Premiere drop down menu, but when I apply them to clips they show no change. The .cube files are good because they worked fine with my Atomos Shogun.

I've also done the Applications/Adobe Premiere 2020/Show Package Contents/Contents/Lumetri/LUTs/Creative.

Again, they show up in the drop down menu, but won't affect clips at all. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Not work on Prem Pro 2018 with .cube file at on. I did try many ways from what comment guiding like lumetri - Luts - creative

                       Lumetri - Luts - legacy

                       Lumetri - Luts - Technical

                       Lumetri - Premiere Color

Even import from brows direct to file

Who did have this problem?

There is the chart, included earlier in this thread, of proper places to store LUTs for the drop-down list. That should work with the 2018 version and on.

What were your LUTs made by, or where did you get them?

Oliver,

You say the LUTs are uploaded in both apps ... are those LUTs that came with the program, or ... have you parked LUTs acquired elsewhere in the program/package files folders? If so, that's a HUGE no-no right there ...

I actually solved the issue. I had to select the LUT in the “Creative” drop down menu. I accidentally was in “Basic Corrections”. Thanks.

Hey so I was having this same exact problem. The difference is, I know these LUTs work because I used them on Adobe 2019. As soon as I update to 2020 and switched them over, I got this problem. They are uploaded both in the Premiere app and Media Encoder app and none of them work. If anyone can help that'd be great.

I'm having similar issues when dragging/dropping a LUT from the Presets window directly into the Effect Controls on a clip in the source window. Some work, others don't. *However, for the LUTs which don't work this way, I can get them to work properly if I select "browse" in the Creative pull down menu and navigate directly to the .cube file on my hard drive. Not sure why they work this way and not the other way. This is cumbersome though as I want to quickly go through dozens of looks and this way is time consuming. It does show however that the .cube is compatible w/ PP 2020.

Tried it on Windows and Mac. Shows up in Lumetri but once added to a clip: nothing happens. On the mac I get the red checkered frame.

Is this an official cube?

Dustinb,

Where are those LUTs stored on the computer? I'm curious about location because if you put them in the Program/Package folder tree, that doesn't work as you think it would.

Premiere accesses the LUTs/Looks it ships with using a "relative" location thing, like relative reference links in a spreadsheet, you know ... over four rows down two? With Premiere, that means by place in the line as shipped, not by the name of the LUT itself.

To get them to properly work, you need to use the provided system ... here's a chart of the locations needed:

The last folders in each tree ... the Creative and Technical ones ... you have to create. Then park your acquired or created LUTs there. I also rename mine with say 1 or A or something at the front so in the drop-down lists in Premiere they appear before the shipped ones ... I think I've used a shipped LUT once?

Mitch,

Sorry for the long wait ... but finally got that tried out, and ... it "applied" on my system, however it made no change to the image. I used it on a the bars & tone, and that normally shows exactly what a LUT does. But ... no change in scopes whatever.

Wonder who/where that LUT came from?

Neil,

Seems as if certain LUTs do not work, depending on various factors, I found. Like, there are some you can export from Photoshop that work, some that don't. If there is no verification that they are not certified to work with Premiere Pro, you are probably out of luck. Sorry.

Unfortunatly having very similar problem. For me once they're loaded into premiere pro cc 2020 they are all there and seem to work until you click one. The name doesn't match the lut. meaning the lut I click on it will actually apply another lut from the folder.

If you could share one of those we could test it to see if it works or not on another system.

.cube is a format with rather wide standards. Different apps have often different processes and parts of the standards they use.

Another thing that is possible is that the particular .cube files aren't compatible with Premiere. There are MANY formats for LUTs, and some applications write them in ways Premiere can't utilize. So ... where did you get the LUTs, and ... what do they say about using in Premiere?

It's from a company drive so I couldn't say for sure where all of these LUTs came from. I didn't realize that certain .cube files are incompatible with Premiere. Others on the drive are fine, but I can't see an obvious difference between them. All are .cube.
