Question

Default prproj file location?

A friend of mine and her director had been using Adobe Premier Pro online and created a 90 minute movie.  Unfortunately, it was created in 3 - 30 minute segments.  The project still needs work and unfortunately the director is unable to return to the U.S. and has in his possession the laptop.  She has the external hard drive with the original files used during the work on the project.  I had suggested getting the project files from the director but due to severe health issues, he is unable to locate the project files on his laptop.  The question is: where are the prproj files located?  Are they kept in the cloud when they signed in to their adobe account or are they stored on the laptop, or both?   She is buying a new laptop to finish her project but locating the prproj files would tremendously help in completing this film.

Almost forgot!  Yes, backup project files can be saved to Creative Cloud; however, it requires enabling "Save backup project to Creative Cloud" to be enabled in the Premiere Pro Auto Save preferences.

Here's the default file path for macOS:

    /Users/<Username>/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/13.0/

    or

    ~/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/13.0/

The folder number will correspond to the version of Premiere Pro being used (13.0 is CC2019, 12.0 is CC2018, etc.).

Of course, the project file could be anywhere that the person who created the initial project file browsed to when the New Project dialog box appeared.

You've tried a search by file type?  So, ".prproj"?

In addition to the main project file, look for the Auto-Save projects. They'll be in a folder named "Adobe Premiere Pro Auto-Save" and end with filename like the following:

    projectname-1.prproj

    projectname-2.prproj

    projectname-3.prproj

    projectname-4.prproj

    projectname-5.prproj

    projectname-6.prproj

    projectname-7.prproj

So, search for "-1.prproj".  Ideally you want to find the Auto-Save with the highest version number in the filename.  It should be the closest the main project.

Of course, if Premiere Pro can be opened the Welcome screen should show recent projects.

Oh, by the way, "Warren The Great" is an awesome title!!!

It depends on whether the editor chose to save them to the cloud and/or the laptop.
