Delete "Replace Media" in Essential Graphics Transition ?

New Here ,
Dec 12, 2022 Dec 12, 2022

I'm brand new to using Premiere Pro. I am trying to utilise the free Adobe Stock transition files in my media project. I have downloaded and installed the mogrt. template file and the file is now available in my Essential Graphics tab. Many of the transitions contain a stock watermark image of a triangle, circle, and square overlapping whereby I have the option to "replace media". I don't want an image in the transition. The Adobe sample video of the transition does not contain an image, so why does mine? I am operating the latest version of Premiere Pro on OS Ventura. How can I delete the media so that only the transition remains?

No. Mogrts are not actually able to behave like transitions between two track items like regular Video Transitions do. They are their own sort of media, so they need to sit on a track above your cut point if you want them to look like transitions at all.

The question has been answered.

It is impossible to use this kind of MOGRT like a traditional transition.

There is nothing you can do to to make it work like a traditional transition.

The closest thing you can do is to export the two clips exactly as you want them to appear on the timeline, then put clip one in "placeholder in" and clip two in "place holder out". That should render the entire stock "transition" as you want it to appear.

I have no idea why there aren't more stock transitions available that you can just use as an effect in Premier, but this is the way it is and there's not much else to do about it.

The correct answer here is not the answer to the issue presented. Placing some mogrt files on top of a video layer centered between two clips will show the black/white watermarked image. I have zipped, upacked and tried many things in AE to get a mogrt to work easily in a PP timeline by just dropping onto a sequence. (deleted image, turned opacity down, moved it off screen, hid it...  )

Has this ever been answered?  I want to use many of the transitions available without a media replacement option.  You also don't know that the transition needs media replacement until you download and put on a timeline.  Also, is there a way of searching for regular trnasitions in Essentials that don't need media relacement?  This is very annoying for editors that are just looking for transitions to use on a timeline without the need for using new media

This has been driving me crazy.  Just figured out a way to do it.  Put the transition on V3.  On V1 you have the outgoing video(Media 1) and V2 the incoming video(Media 2).  Line up the V2 clip with the start of the transition.  Now at the start of the transition you match frame V1 into the source monitor and make an in point.  Click back on the transition and then drag the clip from the  source monitor into the "Media 1".  It will highlight blue.  Go back to the start of the transition and match frame V2.  Make an in point.  Now go back to the transition and then drag the clip from the source monitor into "Media2".  You'll see it highlight blue.  It should now do what you hoped it would do.  Kind of a pain in the ass I know.   Also if you want to make the transition longer you can only extend to the right or the end of the transition.  If you end up moving the transition at all you will have to repeat process or you will have jump edits into and out of the transition.

This is it!! (I think)... This sounds exactly like what needs to happen, I'm just not sure I follow correctly. Do you have a video or anything of it? " at the start of the transition you match frame V1 into the source monitor and make an in point." and "drag the clip from the  source monitor into the "Media 1". - isn't really working for me... It doesn't highlight blue. I can drag it form the source monitor into the Program monitor, and sections will turn blue, but that places it either before, after, or replaces.

This is driving me insane too. I have paid for and downloaded mogrts from Adobe stock and can't use them because of these watermarks. Surely I can place them in my time line in the track immediately above the two clips and not have them black out what's beneath?

Elijah, this is an app intended for profesional needs workflows. There are other apps simpler and more automated for prosumer use.

There are specific methods for using mogrts. It does take some learning at first, no question. But what they are capable of doing is amazing.

Hello, I'm a bit late to this party I know. I'm having a related issue with replace media transitions. I'm a confident Premiere user.
I'm trying a transition called Original Glitch Transition (MOGRT). I think it's supposed to work by replacing media 1 and media 2 with the clips you want to transition from/to. I can do this, no problem. My problem is, when I then drag the transition ('containing' the two clips) onto the timeline, the total duration is just the duration of the transition. If I extend the edit points along, I dont just get my original media handles with a transition in the middle, I get a slowed down glitch effect across all the media (eg 10 seconds of slow glitching). What am I doing wrong - the only solution I can see is painstakingly trying to lay the transition containing the clips in a track over the actual clips and trying to match up the frames by eye.
