Question

Dissolve transitions aren't rendering correctly

Hi everyone,

I'm having a rather annoying problem in premiere pro with dissolve transitions.

I've got a simple 30 second video, and I've got some cross dissolve and push transitions in there. All was well until I rendered and exported it. Then all of a sudden the cross dissolve transition wasn't working, and looked glitchy, not smooth at all. I went back and changed to a film dissolve transition- same thing. None of the dissolves render correctly.
Just to be clear, no settings have changed to my knowledge and the other push transition has not been effected. It seems totally random and I can't find a fix 😞

attached a photo- I've duplicated a few clips but that's never caused issues before and doesn't cause issues with the push transition.

This helped me a little bit... what finally put me in good shape was shortening the cross-dissolve, and I'm not sure if it had anything to do with it, in the Media... Export window - I unchecked "Effects" - which had nothing active in it anyway. Didn't hurt anything either.

Hello,

Experiment with hardware acceleration settings. Sometimes disabling hardware acceleration (or enabling it if it's currently disabled) can resolve rendering issues. You can find this setting in Preferences > Media.

Try applying the transitions in a new project or a different sequence within the same project to isolate whether the issue is project-specific.

To rule out sequence settings as the cause of the issue, create a new sequence with different settings and then apply your transitions to see if the problem persists.

Based on the results of your test with the new sequence, you may need to adjust your project settings or create a new sequence with settings that better match your source footage. Sometimes mismatched settings can cause unexpected behavior in transitions and other effects.

Also there are the Film Impact transitions that have fixed the dissolve problem. It's a paid add-in, but if you don't want to subcribe, they let you keep the dissolve, push, roll and blur to color transitions, ie: the dissolve is free.

What happens if you click in the sequence you have and then go to Sequence > Sequence Settings and un-check Composite in Linear Color and then click OK and export it again?
