So that's basically it...Does Premiere workspeed depends on how many files we have imported?
Or does it change just when we are really using the files inside the Premiere?

Because last week a friend of mine told me that one of his students, while making a work, just imported everything into the Premiere and then couldn't do nothing.
I don't know if she was then putting all that on the timeline at once or something like that, and personally I never had that problem, mainly because I never really worked on big productions.

It depends on how they are importing into premiere, it is not the number of files, but how those files are imported,

are they imported from an external HDD, an external SSD, an external Memory Card, or copied into the

local drives and imported from there ? and if importing from external stuff, how this stuff is connected to the editing pc

really matters as well... They also need to wait for Premiere to conform all files, in order to

read the audio and video correctly from the timeline.

It also depends on what operating system and what build of that operating system is used and how the system is configured.

They definitely need to clean their Media Cache from time to time, because that what causes Premiere to freeze in most cases

It depends on the GPU in some cases... there are many reasons to cause Premiere to slow down, but it is not the number

of files, Premiere Pro is even built to handle team workflows and several people working on the same file at once, of course

if you have a strong and fast enough shared storage or a professional cross platform. As far as I know ....

It is most likely due to an computer that is not powerful enough for the way Premiere Pro is being used.

In my experience, Premiere Pro doesn't ever slow down.  I've worked with as many as 1200 clips.
