Hello. I need to be able to export MPEG4 clips from Adobe Premiere Pro CC with a Dolby Digital Plus codec. How can I go about that? Is it something I need to purchase a license for?

Thanks.

Sorry, but Adobe no longer includes or sells a Dolby anything encoder at all. You will need to purchase a third-party licensed encoder plugin.

Not sure if this is the same but I can produce an MP4 file with DD plus audio using the Surcode encoder.

I'll have to look into that. When I try and export an MPEG4 I'm not given the option of using the Surcode encoder. Minnetonka themselves says it wasn't possible, but maybe I'm trying it wrong somehow. Thanks.

Are you selecting Mpeg4 or H264 as your video code. Only H264 has the Surcode option.

Hi. Thanks. Yes that's the company I purchased the MPEG2 codec from. Unfortunately they don't produce a similar product for MPEG4 in Premiere. They have one in development but I'm needing it now. Thanks for your help. I'll keep looking but frankly I'm not finding anyone.

Have you tried TMPGEnc Movie Plug-in AVC for Premiere Pro?

I have it installed and can export Dolby Digital audio when i export to MPEG4. It will export up to 5.1 Surround directly via Premiere Pro and Media Encoder, but you may need more since you are referring to Dolby Digital Plus. 🙂

Yes that’s what I suspected. For my current MPEG2 exports I use a plugin I purchased from Minnetonka Audio, but they don’t produce a similar codec for MPEG4. And I can’t find anyone who does, but I was hoping maybe you knew of a company that does. Do you have a preferred vendor for such things?

Thanks.
