Drawing lines - THIS QUESTION IS CORRECTLY ANSWERED BELOW!

Participant ,

I want to draw some thin straight lines in Premiere Pro. Essential graphics has a rectangle option which seems tricky to use for drawing lines. I have found line drawing functionality under File>New>Legacy Title. That seems much better but I'm worried about using a "Legacy" option. Is there a risk that these functions may disappear when the product updates?

Thanks in advance, Jim

just take the 'Pen Tool', click on the program monitor to create the first point, then another click to create a line.

From Effect Controls or Essential Graphics panel, click off 'Fill' under Appearance and select 'Stroke', then

adjust the stroke value number to whatever thickness you like.

If you don't like using the Rectangle tool, I suppose you could create a Text item and then add a hyphen, underscore, or "horizontal line": āŽÆ  Since text is a vector graphic you can scale it up as needed, and then do further adjustments to the properties to adjust width, angle, etc.

Nothing wrong outright with using the Legacy Title Tool if you like. You won't be able to really use the newer graphics features found in Essential Graphics (unless you bring a legacy title item into an EG item which seems like more work than necessary).

I guess there's always a risk of older functions being removed in newer builds. That said, major builds of Premiere Pro always install concurrently to your existing install. So if you install say: CC 2020 (or whatever comes next) and realize that Legacy Titles are not supported and if you have one in a project it will get deleted (which is unlikely). Then you could still open up CC 2019 and finish up your project before moving onto the next version of Premiere for new projects.

"using a "Legacy" option. Is there a risk that these functions may disappear when the product updates?"

That is the definition of a legacy option.
