Question

Duration of imported clip automatically cut in half/ plays at double speed

Hi all,

I'm very new to Premiere Pro and have encountered a problem. When I import certain clips, they are automatically changed to double speed and therefore the duration of the clip is halved. For example, if I'm importing a 2 min long clip, it will appear in PP as a 1 min clip playing at twice its original speed. Interestingly, the audio is not sped up, it plays at normal speed but would simply cut off at the 1 minute mark (in the previous example). I have attached screenshots of a file I am trying to import and how it appears in PP.

I have tried resetting preferences/ restoring factory settings, and also deleting the media cache files, in an attempt to fix the problem but it didn't work.

If anyone can suggest a solution I would be so grateful!

Cheers,

Thanks for the suggestion but it didn't make a difference. Is there anything else you can recommend?

I think the problem began in a project I was working on with footage from two different cameras (with different frame rates). I remember getting a 'clip mismatch warning' dialogue box and then encountering my problem shortly after, but I cant remember if I chose to 'change sequence settings' or 'keep existing settings'. Either way, the problem occurs when I import the clips and not when I add them to a sequence, so I'm not sure that it is related to the sequence settings. The clips that are affected by this problem have a frame rate of 59.94 fps and I have set my media timebase to 59.94 fps in my preferences too but it does not resolve the issue. Any ideas?
