Dynamic links issues with OneDrive (Premiere - After Effects)

Hey everybody !

I switched my old mac for a new M1 one (os Monterey).
I often work with OneDrive for work (incl. Ae, Pr, Ai, Indd etc. files) and before switching on my new computer everything went well.

Now, when I open an already OneDrive synced Pr file with Ae dynamic links in it, everything works well. But as soon as I modify someting in my Ae linked file, the link breaks itself and the media appears as "offline" in Pr...

Even if I link the file again in Library>CloudStorage>File, it work until I make a change in my Ae file and the link breaks itself again.

I don't know what is happening, I already try to "always show library" in the finder preferences in order to ease the folder access to Pr but it doesn't resolve the problem.

Is it an already known issue ?  Thank you in advance for your help.
Theo

OneDrive is synchronzied cloud stroage and as such not well suited for working in Premiere Pro or After Effects.  Even if OneDrive allowed us to pause synching for files and folders set to always be available on our devices without it restarting after a preset time interval (2 hours, 8 hours, 24 hours), it is a file path that's tucked away in the user Library folder.  It's a best practice to move files to local non-synchronized storage locations that are fast enough to play our source footage smoothly and then back when done.

Cloud-connected storage, like Adobe FrameIO, is an option for getting and putting files very quickly; however, it too requries working from local storage.

LucidLink offers on-demand cloud storage where the cloud drive behaves just like local storage.  If you really want your footage to be in the cloud while you work, that's currently the best option.

Our business partner is in Cape Town, we're in western Oregon. Our joint projects media/projects live on our Amazon S3 servers in London ... and as long as your latency stays low and speeds above 150Mbps, we can work directly from LucidLink connections via a 'virtual drive' on our local machines.

Seems ... mostly magical, it's unbelievable the way it works.

Hi Theo,

I'm having the same troubles - did you find a solution in the meantime?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Edward. I don't have these issues anymore, simply because I stopped working directly on the OneDrive folders.. Maybe try to update all your apps / computer / onedrive it'll maybe help ?

Or you can do like me and stop having working files (AE / footages / etc.) on OneDrive.

Hope it helped ! and have a good day

OneDrive can be a right bugger at times. I didn't have problems with it existing on my last computer, but the one I went to a while back OneDrive decided to take over ALL "user" folders, pics, videos, (which I of course never use) but also the Documents folder which Adobe and many others use to put various things in. And a ton of other folders.

I couldn't even get my prefs to sync ...

Because OneDrive was constantly checking the files and making notes in their headers as to whether it had synced them or not, and the new 'data' confused the Adobe apps ... and others.

It took me a couple days to get that thing completely GONE from my computer so I could get working again.

Thank you Neil for your answer, I now understand that OneDrive is always doing "secret things" that can't be understood by Adobe apps..
But when you're saying that it took you couple of days to get it completely gone, did you do someting in particular ?
Or did it go away on its own?

Thank you a lot !
