Hey guys,

Pretty new to premier pro and hit a snag I need a hand with please.

Just yesterday i was editing multiple projects - when revisiting them today all loaded in the timeline and i could make a few changes - all but one (which happens to be the one which I've spent most time on).

When trying to open the project premier pro loads the media/videos into the bottom left dock as seperate videos like usual but non of the editing i have done is showing in the timeline. Two error messages have come up which i will upload in photos.

It mentions maybe old version - but this is weird as I only edited yesterday and i only have 2 premier pros downloaded 2019 and 2020 - I'm not sure if this is where the mix up could be? As when i try to open this file it trys to open it in 2019 version rather than 2020 - if opening in 2020 its shows : 'this project was saved from a previous version of adobe premier pro and must be converted the original project file will not be modified' - yet when trying to select it wont let be select any of the premier pro files it would be.

On the file details it shows the size of the project so I would expect the work to be in there/on the timeline but it isnt. Does anyone know how I can get this project loaded on the timeline please? thanks for your help in advance.

Double click to load it into the timeline...

Dragging it puts that sequence into another sequence, either the one you are working on, or in a new one if the timeline is empty.

gotta say I'm still mainly working in cc2019.  If you monitor this forum, you see many people having serious issues with 2020, particularly if you have older hardware or OS.  In a way I think you have a point.  Makes sense for a premiere novice to keep his setup as simple as possible but in many cases, keeping it simple means working in cc2019.  I have cc2017 - 2020 installed on my system, but that's mainly because I provide support for clients who are not always the sharpest tool in the workshed and particularly in this crazy time where I'm looking over their shoulder instead of actually being in their offices.

Why do you need both 2019 and 2020 intalled. Since you're new, just stick with 2020. Make a copy of that project and open it in 2020, if it wants to update versions, it's OK to do that. Then look inside the project for your sequence, it has an icon like this:

Double click that to load it into the timeline...

Hey thanks for this - I have never worked on 2020 I didnt even know it was on the imac im using until trying to work out what the problem was.

I've managed to find a few sequences thanks to your help above but when dragging the sequence over to the timeline it is just in one big green block (Text, video and audio all mixed into togethr) However, i need to edit the seperate components - is there away of making the green block back into the seperate tracks etc ?

thanks again
