Heya mates.

I know its a tedious subject to deal with, but every once in a few years you come across a project in which you have to answer those questions again.... so sorry in advance.

My issue is that I am editing a video with one footage that was filmed in 23.94p and has synced Audio with it (recorded on a mixer which was set to that frame rate). and another footage that was set to 59.94p with no audio.

all this goodness need to be conformed into a 25p (PAL) sequence in order to be ready for broadcasting in a Euro TV. (PAL based).

how do I approach that?

and if the video will only be shown on the web, should I approach it differently? maybe just keep the 23.94p NTSC frame rate?

Thanks! really need you help here ASAP.

Adobe software has never been especially good at ATSC<>PAL conversions.  You're probably better off finding a facility that can do that via hardware.

The other option is to follow the example set by Hollywood.  Edit and export everything at 23.976.  Then bring that exported file back into PP and Modify the frame rate to 25.  This would speed up the playback, changing the audio pitch very slightly.  But if it's good enough for Hollywood...

Create a 25 fps sequence, according to the euro standard.

Create a sequence with your 23.98fps video & audio tracks (the sequence should be in 23.98)

Now drag and drop your 23.98fps sequence into the 25fps sequence. your Audio & video should stay in sync. They edit as you would normally do.

    Hope this helps,

    Seb

    Thanks Seb.

is the extra 23.98fps sequence is to maintain the sync?

I tried putting the 23.98fps video in a 25fps sequence and export as 25fps, the result speed was good.

    what am I missing here?

Yes the extra sequence was b ecause I though you had separate audio and video, but if your audio is embedded in the video, no need to do that

I would look into what your EURO TV channel expects from the standards conversion. In the UK only Alchemist hardware/software type converters are acceptable.
