Editing a Vertical Video - Change Background

Hello. I am trying to edit a vertical video so that it shows as horizontal. I am able to get to the point where I can do this and then "blur" the background on each side of the video, but it looks bad. Is there a way to make the vertical video horizontal and instead of "blurring" the sides, place a gray background to the sides of the video?

Thank you!

Yes, all vertical video (portrait) look bad on landscape player. Your trick is the best althoud it bad. Another trick is zoom in it to full fit with the landscape sequence.

Okie,

Thank you! I am very new to Premiere Pro. How do I go about zooming in to full fit with landscape sequence?

Zooming in on a portrait image in a landscape setting will look worse. You will lose a lot of image quality.

If you want a gray background, just drop a color matte behind the video.
