editing and sharing an mp3 audio file

New Here ,
May 17, 2020 May 17, 2020

can you tell me how to edit an mp3 audio file so it remains an audio file? I have tried to do so, but it becomes an mp4 video file and I cannot figure out how to convert it to audio file once I'm ready to share it.

I'd appreciate any guidance.

Thank you

My Windows Premiere setup has an MP3 export option:

Premiere Pro cannot export to mp3 so you won´t get a mp3 file. You can however export it to Waveform Audio as a wav file and that file will be larger than your original file.

If you want the result to be an mp3, edit the audio in Adobe Audition and save as mp3 or bring the wav file into Adobe Audition and save it as .mp3.

File > Export and then set the Format to Waveform Audio.

jadambaxt, sorry, but i have been wrong all the time. It is possible to export audio as mp3 directly from Premiere Pro. I don´t know when it was added, but it´s there. Thanks for the head up, Richard_M_Knight. 🙂

in case you don't know, mp3 files are heavily compressed not suitable for editing.  if you can get a better source, you should...  I often get mp3's as temp files, but I convert them before editing with them to aiffs or wavs...  and replace them with high quality aiffs or wavs before finishing
