Edits not showing up live

Hello,

I'm having some problems with Premiere and showing effect changes live in my program monitor. For example, if change the saturation, nothing on my image changes until I complete a 'render in to out'. Happens with all effects I'm trying and it’s driving me crazy. It just started happening suddenly. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this that'd be great! I saw something about holding down shift + alt while starting up Premiere but it didn’t help. I also tried copying everything to a new sequence. Thanks!

Thank you for your reply, Neil! I didn't have that option turned on, but I
ended up doing a funky workaround by exporting the video in pieces and then
creating a new project with them. I'll definitely have to explore other
options if it happens again in the future. Thanks again for your input!!

One quick thing to check ... is the Program monitor option to mute all effects "on"? As if that is, you would get this behavior.
