Edits to my duplicate are editing the original

No matter what I do, edits to the duplicate that I make are editing the original. I'm trying o make a mixed media clip so I've imported a scanned document of frames from a video. I have seen many people online be able to simply reframe the picture, duplicate the clip, and then resize the scanned document for the next frame. I've tried copying and pasting, using the option key and dragging the clip to duplicate, duplicated in the little projects area and then importing the clip, renaming the clip so that the system might recognize it as a different clip, I've tried everything and premiere pro still won't let me independently edit the duplicate. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I've started different projects. Nothing is working. Please help i'm so frustrated.

Hi @amanda_7087 - Please let us know what your os is and what version of Premiere Pro you are on?

Stan has a good question on your workflow.  and Warren has a good idea about a screenrecording if you are able to so that we can see the issue you experiencing.

Sorry for the frustration.

Are you able to post a screen recording?

Or, could you explain your exact steps?

Also, are you working with still images?

I'm having some trouble posting a screen recording so here are the exact steps that I've tried (I'm on a mac btw):

-import the scanned image, which is attached below

merdead girl mm 1.jpeg

- drag the media into the timeline

-zoom in to the first frame in the top left corner so that it fits to scale

-make sure the media is selected in the timeline

- this is where I have tried to both copy and paste, or use the option and drag method to duplicate the media and put the duplicate to the right in the same layer

- next I select the duplicate

- in the preview screen, I readjust the framing so that the next frame I want (which is the image below the first one) fits properly in the screen

- the moment I begin to readjust the duplicated clip, the original clip moves and that is where my problem is

How are you adjusting the framing? Are you using an adjustment layer or anything?

Stan
