Effect control panel not working properly

I added a mask to a clip and whenever I try to use the effect control panel, no matter what clip is selected, it only affects the same clip that I applied a mask to. Not sure if this is a bug or if I'm just missing something. Any ideas how to fix it?

Hi -

Posting a screen shot of the whole app will help here. The ECP follows the selected clip in the timeline. Is it possible that you have "Selection follows playhead" enabled in the preferences? If you do, then the selection will move without you doing anything other than moving the playhead.

Hi Mike

The selection isn't it. it won't matter what clip is selected. Just edits the same clip no matter what
