Encore CS6 "photoshop does not appear to be installed"

It looks like this has been discussed in the (distant) past. The answers don't appear to be valid any more.

I have Encore CS6 installed along side CC 2018. All apps seem to be installed and functioning well. The one problem I have is that when I create a menu from a template in Encore and then want to edit it in Photoshop, I get the message "Photoshop does not appear to be installed". Anyone have new information about what could be happening?

Thanks.

Correct answer Ann Bens

Did see this message only recently myself.

Go the the psd menu files in Source directory in the Encore project and set them to open with the desired PS version.

I feel a little bit foolish, but not entirely.

This is a new computer for me. I thought that I had associated PSD documents with Photoshop CC18 because PSDs displayed in folders with the PS logo. To be sure, I checked again by going to a PSD document on my computer, Right clicked it and clicked "Open with...". I selected Photoshop and made sure the "Always use this" was selected. I opened the document. Then I went to Encore and everything worked fine.

File association was the most successful solution I found in old posts (and I thought I had) but right clicking a PSD and choosing "Always use this" seems to be the trick.

This worked for me. I hope it helps others. Now, if I can remember what I did next time I encounter this I'll be fine.

Thanks for everyone's comments and suggestions.

I think I told you that in post 4.

Yes you did. Sorry for not acknowledging that, Ann.

Your post is the one that made me go back and double check I had done that right.

Thanks again.

If I open a menu in Photoshop, CS6 Photoshop opens rather than the also installed CC18

I don't have PS CS6 installed on my other machine but Encore opens PS CC18 just fine. I'm not sure why me new machine is behaving differently.

That's good to know, though, Richard. I can use that as a possible solution for me if necessary.

I think we (helpers on the forum) never did pin down one solution. Some of us could get a particular version of PS to work using the file association. I could not. I suspected the order in which various versions were installed, but not sure.

I'd guess at a registry edit (if Windows), but not for the faint of heart.
