ENCORE - Skip the first chapter when playing in the DVD player

I have 2 timelines, each one whit different chapters or episodes. In the menu, I manage to put the option to see each chapter separately, and then I have two different buttons where I link with the 2 timelines.

The problem is that in the preview everything is ok, and when I build the DVD, when I play the disc in the computer, everything is ok also. The problem is when I play it in my DVD player, all the episodes are ok, but when playing the two main buttons, both start in the second chapter.

Does anybody know what can be the problem?

*sorry for my English

If I play the first chapter (not the first timeline), it drops back to the main menu.

And not, I am running an old iMac from the 2013.

*When I play the DVD in the DVD player, and press the button of the first timeline complete, as I said, it starts in the 2nd chapter, then if I press the backwards botton <<, it works. Instead, if a press the I<< botton to go the 1st chapter, it doesn´t work.

Thank you for your help. I will try doing the two menus.

*What is the Abstraction Layer????

Here's a thought.

In your Chapter Playlists, what happens if - for example - you start on Chapter 1? Will it:

A - play Chapter 2 right afterwards, or

B - drop back to the main menu?

Personally the way I would set this one up is very similar to how Stan suggested:

Create a main menu, and also 2 chapter menus.

On the Main Menu, have an option to play either of the 2 timelines/playlists as well as options to get too the Chapter Playlist menus. Doing it all off of one menu can cause problems with the Abstraction Layer.

You seem to be running on PC - is this correct? If so, please go find & download PGCEdit.

This will run a trace on the structure of the disc & should help you fix the navigation issues without needing to recompile. I cannot recommend this software highly enough.

The menus appear to be 4:3, so your 29 buttons should be okay. If I am wrong and these are 16:9, the max is 18.

But both your timelines are orphans, and I wonder if this is creating a problem.

The more common method is to have one menu with the "play all" for each timeline, and a link to a chapters menu, perhaps one chapter menu for each timeline.

Do a "save as" to protect your project, then add two more buttons one each for the timelines. See if that works. I would try to respect safe guides as well. That can create problems.

Thank you for your fast answer.

1. I am respecting the safe zones, or I am wrong?

2. If I've understood well, do you guess that the problem may be that everything is in the same unique menu?

Now I have try to do a playlist for each timeline, and link those to the main buttons. But it doesn't work...

What makes me crazy is why do everything work as I want when the DVD is playing in the computer, and it doesn´t work properly in the DVD player.

I think Encore may create issues if you are not respecting the inner "title" safe zone. You can see that the bottom button and the top button cross the zone. But you don't appear to be having problems with this, so I don't know that this has anything to do with your issue.

In your picture here, the menu looks like a 16:9 rather than 4:3. Which is it? But that would only affect whether your buttons are actually there, and you don't appear to have that problem.

You don't need a playlist for each timeline: just a link to the timeline itself.
