Question

Entire Monitor Goes Black Then Flashes Back On When Scrolling Though/Playing/Pausing Playback.

I've been encountering this issue since intalling Premire on my new PC, which I know for a fact meets the hardware specifications and then some. I'll open a project and get to the part I'm ready to edit, then out of nowhere while scrolling though, playing, or pausing, my monitor screen goes black, waits a few seconds and then flashes back on.

Doesn't matter if the Project is large or small, for instance when inserting new footage into my timeline, then playing it for the first time, the bug occurs. The software is completely fresh with no third-party softwares intstalled on top of it. I should also mention this sometimes occurs with games and even internet browsers.

The only temporary manual solution is shutting of my Monitor and turning it back on.
(I've been sitting on this post for months now hoping to find a solution on my own to no avail.)

I've already:

-Installed the latest version of Premiere Pro.

-Installed the latest version of Nvidia GPU drivers.

-Updated my monitors drivers.

-Confirmed G-Sync is turned on for both full screen and windowed modes.

-Simply maneuvered the display ports into place.

-Put GPU into overclock mode.
-I've tried rebooting my GPU windows+ctrl+shift+b.

I had this problem too and I tried a ton of different things (different driver versions, different premiere versions, new windows updates, etc). The one thing that solved it for me is turning on gsync, and then turning it back off. This only happened for me in HDR mode. My guess is that gsync doesn't work very well with Premiere, and even if it says gsync is off after the update, it may still be on, so you have to turn it on, and then back off again to properly turn it off.

Hi @Lou Hoffmann
I saw your other post as well.  Thank you for keeping the different issues separate.  Are you using a second monitor that is giving you issues, or your main monitor?  This sounds like something with your monitor and not Premiere, because it happens with other programs as well.  I would check your monitor connection points to make sure they are all solid, and maybe try a different cable.  Are all your display drivers up to date?

Thanks for the response,
I understand its most likely my monitor and not Premiere, but the amount of times Premiere has led to it flashing has got me thinking it could potentially have something to do with Premiere. I only have one monitor, connection points are solid, display drivers are up to date.

The only suggestion that might work is getting a hold of new cables, but even then, it only really happens when programs open for the first time, or when I put my PC in sleep mode and come back to it later.
