Error importing MXF video file into Premiere Pro

Hello,

I would like to import MXF video files recorded with a SONY FX6 in XAVC-I on adobe premiere pro 2024 (latest version) except that unfortunately it doesn't work, when I import them there are error messages that appear and the preview screen remains black.

The error message reads:

“The image substitution recursion attempt aborts after several attempts on the file: C:\Users\...”

Then continuously, this error message appears:

“Error recovering image 13845 at temportel code 00;05;50;58 from file: C:\Users\..., replacing image 13844”.

Information about my PC:

Windows version: Windows 11 Home Edition
Version 23H2
Operating system build 22631.4169
Graphics card: RTX 4080 Super
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900K 3.20 GHz

Many thanks

Sincerely

Hi @Oyka - I haven't seen frame recursion errors with XAVC-I footage.  Do you have any plugins installed?  What version and build of premiere are you using?  Is your media local or on an external drive?

you can find this info in the about Premiere section
Can you try holding down "SHIFT" while opening premiere and select the checkboxes "reset media cache", "reset plugin cache"

Hello,

thanks for your answers @Kevin-Monahan @jamieclarke

I did find the place to download the Premiere Pro 2025 beta

I've tried again to import an MXF video file and unfortunately I'm also getting the same error messages as on the original Premiere Pro

Hi @Oyka - Please update your creative cloud desktop app and then you will be able to see Premiere Pro Beta in the beta tab of the app.

@Oyka  @reboussier - We have fixed the frame recursion errors in the beta version of the app.  Please let us know if you have any other issues.

Bonjour, @Oyka. I'm sorry about that. You need to go to All Apps, then scroll to the bottom. It is hiding there. Our team has filed a bug for this issue. Sorry for that.

Merci,

Kevin

Bonjour
J’ ai le même problème avec des rushes MXF camera canon xf 605 4K
Le seule solution a été de les transformer en Mp4 ce qui n’est pas satisfaisant

Hello,

thank you for your quick reply, would you have a link to download the beta or something because I can't find it on creative cloud.

Hello @Oyka,

Thanks for the bug report and the info you posted. This version might have a bug with .mxf-wrapped footage. Can you install the Beta and see if the format works? You can install it side by side with the stable version. There have been some fixes recently that may help. Let the team know.

Thanks,
Kevin
