Hello all,
I get an error when attempting to import a file to premiere pro cc. The error message is Unsupported format or damaged file. The file opens fine in AI & PS. I have shared the logo below.

Thank You

That .psd file opens without issue. You can remove the background right in Premiere, if you want, and pass the step of converting to png:

Premiere CC 2018 premiere to be changed back to the CC 2017 interface, especially the time line tool, personally think that folding is not convenient, start the interface or premiere CC 2014.1 look beautiful, editing and output premiere CC 2018 added into MKV format, gamma, add color brightness. Premiere, CC, 2018 people think that subtitles are good, graphics do not matter, not practical.

I can't open that file in Premiere, Photoshop or AI.
If you can open the file in Photoshop, try saving it as a PSD and then importing into Premiere.

Thank you for the reply. You are right it does not open in PS. file format module cannot parse error.
I have copied the original psd file in the same shared folder. The png file was my attempt to remove the white background. I had left the file open in PS so i assumed it would open in PS. Having seen your comment i closed the file in PS and tried to open it but yeah file format module cannot parse error. Weird.
I will retry to remove the background again and recheck. I would appreciate it if you would give it a try as well.
Cheers
Ayub

File > Import and navigate to the .psd file, click import.
The Import Layered file tool will open, select Individual Layers and uncheck all but the logo
and click OK.
It will now import just the logo layer from the file.
If you want to have the logo in white as opposed to black, apply the Invert filter ( Effects > Channel > Invert) to the clip on the timeline.

Look forward to the new version of premiere cc 2018 back to premiere cc 2017 interface, in particular, the timeline before the toolbar folding inconvenient, start interface or premiere cc 2014.1 beautiful, Premiere Pro CC (2017.1) personally think that the graphics panel is not practical The There is PS, AE is enough, look forward to restore premiere cc 2017 subtitles panel interface. Look forward to the new version of premiere cc 2018 to solve the import SRT format subtitles garbled problem, add the import mkv format editing and output, add color gamma, brightness.

Hi,
I appreciate this is an old post, but this problem has resurfaced on the new Silicon Macs.
Whilst @Meg The Dog 's suggestion is brilliant, if you're using a pure Adobe workflow, the problem persists if you have content coming in from thrid-party tools. In this CorelDRAW on Windows.
Here's the workaround that may help you.
Attempted to import png into Premiere - Failed
Attempted to open png in Ps - Failed.
Exported as .jpg - Succesful opem and import in both Ps and Pr.
There is something in the encoding of certain .pngs that Adobe software does not seem to like.
Best

Yes, RGB is quite important
