Export > Media won't appear. Timeline is selected!

I have extensive Premiere Pro experience, and have successfully exported my completed works to mp4 literally hundreds of times.

Today, I couldn't get the Export pane to appear no matter what I did, including:

un-installing and re-installing Premiere Pro

Multiple restarts of the PC and of the software.

I always had the timeline selected when I went to export. Made no difference. Then, just like that, the media export pane appeared! No apparent rhyme or reason. But there's more: I could get Export > Media to appear even when the timeline wasn't selected!

Can anyone please share solutions to this show-stopping problem? I am working locally on my PC. Files are local, all assets are local, using PPro on this same PC. I have hundreds of GB of free space, and 128GB of real RAM: plenty of assets to rip a 5 MB video.

Thank you in advance!

@chadsteahly,

Thanks for the additional information.

The stock panel is open by default in the Assembly (left side, project panel group), Essentials (upper left, project panel group), Editing workspaces (lower left, project panel group), and Libraries workspaces (upper right, libraries panel group). If you close it and reset to saved layout or reset preferences, it will again be loaded when you switch to that workspace. The workaround I suggest is to go to each of these workspaces and close the stock panel by clicking the 3-line menu in the header of the panel, and "close panel." You can do this even if the problem occurs. After the problem, if you see "UXP Panel n" instead of the stock panel, that's probably it.

Until you reset preferences (for all of them) or reset to saved layout for a specific workspace, you should be okay.

@Stan Jones

Thanks so much for the follow up.

I'm circuling back to confirm that I'm no longer experiencing any issues exporting—including when the Adobe Stock panel is active. I checked Assembly, Essentials, Editing, Captions and Graphics, and Audio workspaces. All is working great. Thanks for your support along the way.

@johnj27489172 Sorry about that. We're working on a fix. In the meantime, you can make sure to close the Adobe Stock panel and save your workspace, then restart Premiere Pro. The issue can happen when the Stock panel is opened, and so doing the above should avoid it until we get a fix out. Thanks.

@mattchristensen Thanks for confirming. I'm experiencing the same issue. I can't export projects. Tried the usual methods with the Timeline selected...File > Export > Media, tried Command + M, tried clicking on the Export tab. None of this works. I don't have the Adobe Stock panel opened and I've restarted Premiere mutliple times. The only way I can export right now is via Send to Adobe Media Encoder. I can confirm that process still works for me.

Hi Stan, Thanks for the response. I can confirm that the issue persists for me even if the NEW Adobe Stock window is not checked and is not open. I most frequently jump between Assembly, Essentials, Editing, Audio, and Captions and Graphics workspaces. I can't export from any of these workspaces. I'm primarily using the Essentials workspace while building my edit.

Are you only having problems with the Export panel or is it giving you problems trying to export using Media Encoder as well?
