Question

Export Size Too Big?

I have a 40 minute music track, and perhaps 30 to 40 images in sequence.

I am saving As H.264 and YOUTUBE 1080 29.7.

The export estimate is saying 4750mb... This seems too high? U figured it would be 250mb - ready for youtube basically??

Any ideas?

File size is essentially length times bitrate. To "shrink" the file you need to increase compression or set a lower bitrate.

Set Target to 2,3 and Maximum at around 20 to 30.

The Target is what really matters when it comes to file size and Maximum is good to set high for let´s say the transitions you have used, or hard cuts from pic A to pic B, etc.

Export it and see how big it is. The 4750mb you get is just an estimate and is often (always) wrong.

If the result is too big, lower the bitrate and consider 2-pass VBR.

Thanks, will try export now.

Last week I exported an edit with 30+ clips, and same settings, was 250mb, though these images are maybe 13mb each!

The size of the exported files has nothing to do with the size of the original files. It´s all about the bitrate you choose when exporting. Still images can be exported at a low bitrate. For stills i use 2-pass VBR and set Target to 2.3 and Maximum to 30 when i do Blu-ray´s @1080p.
