Question

Exported color looks washed out and the LUT isn't working

I understand this is a common problem, and in the past the gamma LUT adobe made to solve it has worked for me. But for some reason it hasn't worked at all recently. Is there another fix?

Well, a bit more information could be mighty useful!

First, are you on a Mac perchance?

Second, what's the media involved, is it iPhone in HLG color space, or Sony or Panny camera media?

As if the clips are either HLG color space, or from some Sony & Panny cameras shooting log-endoded Rec.709/SDR, then there's an entirely separate issue. As covered in many threads here over the last few months.

In short ... then go to the clips in the Project panel bin, right-click/Modify/Interpret Footage, and set the Overrided option to Rec.709. Then make sure the sequence CM option is set to Rec.709. And it should now work as you expect.

Thanks for the reply! I film on an iphone with a moment anamorphic lens through the moment app and I edit on a macbook. For this video I filmed at 60fps in 1080hd, which is what I usually shoot in. I tried reinterpreting the footage after reading your reply and the exported video still looks a lot worse than on the timeline, even though I have display color management turned on.

All NLE systems must be setup 100%  correct. It may be an export settings causing issues. That being said OBS, QuickTime and YouTube will all display the video a tad bit different. You can compensate for that as seen in the video link below.
