Exporting captions according to timeline timestamps (Premiere Pro 14.9 and earlier)

TL;DR: How can you export an .srt file so that it refers to the timeline's timestamps instead of the original caption file?

Longer version:

I created captions to match my 13 minute video in Premiere. Afterwards, I made several cuts from the video within the timeline.

Even though I adjusted the caption file within the timeline, the exported file retains all previous timestamps, not reflecting the changes from the timeline.

How do you export an .srt file so that it sticks to the timeline's timestamps?

Correct answer Stan Jones

Method 1: Select the SEQUENCE in the Project Panel. Then File -> Export -> Captions.

Method 2: With the newest version of PR, it is now an option from the regular export settings dialogue (File -> Export -> Media; Caption tab, "sidecar" file). In previous versions, Open Captions did not have the option of exporting a sidecar file from that dialogue.

When you export srt selecting the CAPTION stream in the Project Panel, it uses the streams timecodes rather than from the sequence.
