Exporting radial shadow - performance issue

Hello,

I am experiencing extended exporting times when using radial shadow effect.

My export time changes from e.g. 1.5h on a 30min 4K project without the radial shadow, to 19,5h with the shadow. Other resolutions show more less same performance impact. Sometimes up to even 20x of the original export time.

The main idea behind it is to create a custom border of a video box embedded into the main footage. I am 100% sure the radial shadow is causing the problem as I have tested it on many different projects (various  sequence resolutions, export settings, bit rates etc). I have also started to remove all other effects from my projects and in the end it is clear the border is causing the delay.

My PC specs are decent: 7820X, 1070 for CUDA, RAM bit on the lower side (16 GB, 3200) but I never noticed it going over 9 GB when exporting so it does not seem to be the problem.

I can live without the border, but ideally there should be another way to generate such a simple effect in Pr unless there is a technical bug with radial shadow.

Thanks for any tip around the issue.

K

Radial shadow is a non-gpu accelerated effect. If you have this effect over the entire timeline it will take time to export.

I would make some sort to video box in AE, export with an intermediaire codec and use that in Premiere.
